Sleep Apnoea Device Helps Inventor Chris Hart Breathe Easier

noseChris Hart, a dentist based in Brisbane, had suffered from severe sleep apnoea for a long period of time and could not tolerate the continuous positive airways pressure (CPAP) machine.

Unable to breathe and get quality sleep, Dr. Hart invented the O2Vent which is a 3D printed titanium mouth guard through which air is directed straight to the back of the throat.

The O2Vent was developed together with CSIRO and was aimed at helping himself as well as other to manage obstructive sleep apnoea. The O2Vent is now considered a ‘second nose’ to help OSA patients.

He is a Consultant and Specialist Orthodontist with over 30 years clinical experience, with a special interest in sleep related breathing disorders, TMJD, and bruxism. He currently works in Harley Street London and two private hospitals in London as part of a multi-disciplinary team managing snoring and sleep apnoea, and is Visiting Professor of Orthodontics at the BPP University.
