attentionChildren having symptoms associated with attention deficit hyper disorder which include decreased attention span, hyperactivity, and irritability, sleep walking and breathing through the mouth should confirm with their doctor whether they are suffering from sleep apnoea.

Sleep apnoea affects children as young as tow and can hamper the child’s growth if left untreated. Some of these children have often been wrongly diagnosed with attention deficit hyper disorder after exhibiting one of two of those symptoms. The true cause of the hyper activity might be disturbed sleep. Seemab Shaikh, ENT surgeon and sleep specialist says that sleep apnoea in children may affect the facial structure of the growing child.
