What Sleep Does to the Body and Mind?

sleepingHuman beings spend a third of their lives asleep which means that sleep is indeed important for the brain and the body. The accumulation of adenosine, a chemical produced by neurons in the brain causes people to feel sleepy. During sleep, the body will clear all the adenosine making the individual feel refreshed.

Sleep will have a number of benefits to the body. Sleep will help in the rejuvenation of body cells and restorative function such as tissue repair. Muscle relaxation and muscle growth are functions which only happen during sleep. Sleep has many other benefits and it reinforces the importance of sleep for all groups of people.
