Undisrupted Rest Gives a Pregnant Woman Best Chances for Healthy Baby

Pregnant women should get enough rest as much as possible. Two new studies have found that poor or insufficient sleep leads to an unnecessary immune response resulting in inflammation, which can lead to a higher risk of such adverse outcomes as babies born prematurely and babies born with a low birth weight.

One of the studies have also shown that women with depression also face excess inflammation, which can lead to a higher concentration of inflammatory cytokines in the blood and which can raise the risk even higher for problems for the mother and the baby.
