These Alternative Sleep Schedules Could Save You 20 Years Normally Spent in Bed
The National Institute of Health put the number of hours spent sleeping at approximately a third of your lifetime. Sleep is essential for many of the body’s life processes. Sleep is required for the body to rest and recover, for the brain to rest and rid itself of toxins and consolidate memory.
Polyphasic sleep is related to shorter but numerous sleep schedules as opposed to monophasic sleep which involves 7-8 hours of sleep every night. It is believed to have some benefits such as affording you extra time and up to 20 years over your lifetime for productive work. The model is still under study with the belief that some famous thinkers had polyphasic sleep schedules.
