Parkinson’s disease is caused by a deficiency of dopamine, a chemical that is involved in the coordination and movement of the muscles. Parkinson’s disease is associated with a number of sleep disorders that include insomnia, daytime sleepiness, and parasomnia such sleep talking and nocturnal vocalisations. It is estimated that 74% of people with Parkinson’s disease have insomnia.
