This Test Can Save Your Life—and It’s Easier Than You Think

depressedSnoring is more than just a bothersome habit. Snoring that happens regularly should be taken seriously since it could be a sign of sleep apnoea. By visiting the doctor to have a sleep apnoea test, you will rule out presence of the condition.

A sleep apnoea test may save your life. An estimated 80 percent of people with sleep apnoea are not aware they have the condition. Sleep apnoea has been associated with problems such as depression, diabetes, cancer, and dementia.

Michael Coppola, MD, president of the American Sleep Apnoea Association, says that people fail to get tested out of the fear of having to spend a night in a sleep lab. It is an unfamiliar setting with numerous wires attached to the body.

The at-home sleep tests are now preferred and may even give higher quality results because people get to sleep comfortably and normally on their own beds.
