Teeth-grinding and Mouth-Breathing

mouth breathingA source of great concern for many mothers is tooth grinding observed in their children especially at night. It is in fact a common issue raised during the visit to the family doctor or the peditrician. Most toddlers and pre-school kids go through a period of night-time teeth grinding but it becomes a problem when it persists.

Teeth grinding or clenching occurring over a period of weeks and even months is often as a result of emotional stress and physical tiredness. Mouth-guards may be used to protect the teeth and jaw joints in children who have bruxism but it is only when severe wearing of the teeth is noted.
