Study reveals target for drug development for chronic jaw pain disorder

A study conducted by Duke Medicine researchers using mice has identified a protein which is critical to temporomandibular joint disorder pain associated with problems when biting and chewing. According to Professor Wolfgang Liedtke, the TRPV4, the identified protein can be the basis of development of treatment targeted at the protein and minimizing TMJ disorder.
