Study Links Moderate Belly Weight to Sound Sleep
A study funded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the National Centre for Advancing Translational Sciences and presented at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions identified that losing weight will improve the quality of sleep.
Loss of weight could either be through diet change, exercise or a combination of both diet change and exercise. According Kerry Stewart, professor of medicine and author of the study, the key ingredient for improved sleep quality was a reduction in overall body fat, and, in particular belly fat regardless of the age or gender of an individual. It was also noted that good sleep quality is important for healthy cardiovascular system, good physical and mental health.
