Study: Drowsy Drivers Three Times More Likely to Have Auto Accidents

A study published recently in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine reports that people with sleep disordered breathing have a three times more likely risk of getting involved in an automobile accident. For the study, 2,673 individuals living in Western Australia suspected of having sleep apnoea were examined. The study then sought to know how sleep apnoea and daytime sleepiness affects the risk of driver having an automobile accident.
