Studies Show Link between Sleep Loss and Sensitivity to Stress

Sleep problemA new book that has summarized numerous studies has reported that stressful situations bring about emotional responses which will get worse with sleep loss. Matthew T. Feldner, a professor of psychology in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, says that they observed that individuals responded with emotion to a laboratory stressor after a night of sleep loss.

The studies show that specific components of emotion are closely linked to sleep such as mood disorders and anxiety. A recent study adds to the growing body of information and revealed that it is the reaction to stressors rather than the number of stressors that determines the likelihood of suffering from insomnia.
