Strokes Take Years Off Life, and Life Out of Years

Stroke or cerebrovascular attack can result when the blood vessels of the brain either rupture or develop a thrombus or clot. Strokes can bring about central sleep apnoea, a condition wherein there is cessation of breathing and reduction of ventilation during sleep. New research suggests that current treatments for stroke aren't doing nearly enough to minimise strokes' true cost. The study, published in the journal Neurology, is an exercise in health economics that seeks to generate a fuller picture of the cost.
