Stress and Tooth Grinding

stressedStress is often a common problem which can be brought about by illness or poor health, traumatic life events, relationship issues, financial pressures, unemployment, and work-related pressures. With reports of increasing number of people visiting dentists with symptoms of tooth grinding, it has warranted the undertaking of studies on tooth grinding.

Scientists now believe that an approximate 70 per cent of cases of bruxism are linked to stress or anxiety. Teeth grinding is a problem that happens subconsciously during the night. Researchers also found out that people of specific personality types were more likely to suffer from stress. A good example is the high fliers, the highly strung and perfectionists who are all at risk of suffering from tooth grinding.
