Snoring, Sleep Apnoea Can Kill
Snoring and sleep apnoea are responsible for cases of sudden cardiac death and heart attacks. The link between sleep apnoea and sudden cardiac death has been confirmed through a study by Dr Apoor Gami, a cardiac electrophysiologist at the Midwest Heart Specialists-Advocate Medical Group in Elmhurst, Illinois.
The risk factors for heart attacks and sudden cardiac death are psychological stress, hypoxemia, sleep impairment, and further impairment of sleep. Other complications of sleep apnoea and snoring are headaches, fatigue, memory deficiency, foul mood, poor concentrations and poor attention. Sleep apnoea is confirmed through a sleep test to study sleep activity, body movement and other body parameters.
