Sleep has been linked to psychiatric disorders such as depression and schizophrenia. People with depression have a four times greater risk of suffering sleep apnoea and people with sleep apnoea have five time higher risk of depression. Sleep deprivation in people with bipolar disorder leads to maniac conditions. The treatment of sleep apnoea reduces the symptoms and severity of depression, bipolar disorder and even ADHD in children.
