Sleep Problems Differ For Men and Women

sleepingData from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has revealed that a third of all Americans do not get the recommended seven hours of sleep every night. Both men and women face different challenges in getting adequate sleep.

Women experience hormonal fluctuations which lead to insomnia. Estrogen, one of the hormones, causes a shortened length of the sleep cycle leading to sleep problems during pregnancy and at both menstruation and menopause. Women are also more likely to suffer from daytime sleepiness. Men on the other hand due to anatomical features are more likely snore and suffer from sleep apnoea.
