Sleep Problems Common Among Middle-Aged Women

middle agedA new study shows that about a quarter of middle aged women have poor sleep quality. According to Dr Paivi Polo who led researchers at the University of Turku in Finland, says that the study adds to the findings of other studies which assess sleep problems in women before they hit menopause.

Dr Paivi Polo and her colleagues surveyed 850 mothers who were 42 years old about their sleep. The study found that sleep problems were associated with poor life choices, use of medication, and chronic illnesses. Additionally, menopause and hormonal changes associated with the menstrual cycle are reasons behind these sleep problems.
