Sleep, Cancer and Cancer Treatment: Understanding the link

Sleep is not only fundamental for our existence, but studies show that quality of sleep may actually affect the outcome of cancer treatment. 80 percent of cancer patients experience disturbed sleep during the course of treatment. Impaired quality of sleep compromises immune functions and may place cancer patients at the risk of infections. Sleep deprivation and affected quality of sleep are associated with high risk of breast and colon cancer.
