Sleep Apnoea Treatment Options

doctorThere are numerous treatment options available for sleep apnoea. The options available range from the more comfortable and convenient oral appliance therapy to the standard continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy. Other treatment options are surgery, lifestyle adjustments, and weight loss.

Oral appliances are placed in the mouth and are worn during sleep to prevent the collapse of the soft tissues of the throat and the tongue. The oral appliance therapy is the treatment option of choice for patients with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnoea. CPAP therapy is often through a nasal mask and is the preferred treatment for the severe cases of obstructive sleep apnoea.
