Sleep Apnoea Tied to Increased Cancer Risk

3d cancer scanningWith more than 28 million Americans suffering from one form or another of sleep apnoea, it becomes a source of great concern that two new studies have linked sleep apnoea with high risk of cancer. Many sleep apnoea cases go undiagnosed and untreated.

The cancer link may need further proof to the correlation between sleep apnoea and cancer. In the first study, researchers in Spain found that people with severe forms of sleep apnoea had 65% high risk of developing any form of cancer. The second study in Wisconsin reported that people with breathing abnormalities had five times more likelihood of dying from cancer.
