Sleep Apnoea Patients at Greater Risk of Developing Diabetes: Study

The largest ever study to identify the relationship between sleep apnoea and diabetes now confirms the findings of smaller such studies. The study worked with 8,678 Canadian patients that were followed up over a median of 67 months. Patients with an apnoea-hypopnoea index (AHI) greater than 30 had a 30 percent higher risk of developing diabetes than those with an AHI less than 5.
