Sleep Apnoea? Oral Appliance Therapy Offers an Alternative Treatment

Other problems will include work and driving accidents due to the exhaustion caused by a poor night’s sleep.  Dr. Rod Willey, a Peoria-area dentist of the Illinois Institute of Dental Sleep Medicine explains that snoring occurs when the jaw falls back and muscle tone goes away leading to blockage of the airway. When this happens the brain wakes you up to avoid possible suffocation. When this happens several times within a night, not only will sleep be interrupted but the heart will work harder and an oxygen level in the blood goes down. This leads to numerous health problems.
