Sleep Apnoea Common among Stroke-Related Brainstem Injuries

People who have their brain stems affected by stroke have a high prevalence and severity of obstructive sleep apnoea. The study presented in the American Stroke Association's International Stroke Conference 2014 reports that sleep apnoea was more common for Stroke-Related Brainstem Injuries than stroke-related injury elsewhere in the brain. More research is however required into the relationship between sleep apnoea and stroke.
