Severity of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Is Associated With Elevated Plasma Fibrinogen in Otherwise Healthy Patients

Obstructive sleep apnoea is associated with cardiovascular diseases. Cardiovascular pathophysiology in OSA patients is associated with coagulation and systemic inflammation. This is caused by fibrinogen which is a major coagulation protein that leads to inflammation and major cardiovascular diseases. Fibrinogen levels are directly related to apnoea hypopnoea index (AHI), arousal index and are inversely related to the lowest oxygen saturation during sleep.
