Sensitive Teeth – Causes and Remedies

Teeth sensitivity in children is a problem which requires close parental observation. Examination of the teeth of the child will be required whereby hesitation in brushing teeth and taking both cold and hot food is noted.

Sensitive teeth are as a direct result of exposure of the dentine through the erosion of the enamel coating on teeth. Abrasive substances, teeth grinding, and accumulated bacteria which produce acids that corrode teeth enamel are some causes of sensitive teeth. Home remedies may include the use of high fluoride toothpaste which acts on the exposed enamel.
