Seizure Drug Promising in Sleep Apnoea

A seizure drug by the name Zonisamide (Zonegram) has been studied in a pilot trial and has been shown to give moderate relief for obstructive sleep apnoea. Jan Hedner, MD, and colleagues say the drug has been shown to reduce the Apnoea-Hypopnoea Index by 22% among the test subjects. The results provide hope for the development of pharmacological treatment for OSA.
