Proper Sleep a Key Contributor to Health, Well-Being

Sleep is much more than simple rest as many studies can attest. Proper and adequate sleep promotes good health and better functioning. The amount of sleep is usually dependent on age.

A study has shown that sleep deprivation leads to people appearing less attractive and less healthy. Other studies have indicated that sleep deprived people are irritable, have slower reaction times, are easily depressed and have troubled relationships. Sleep inadequacy will lead to a higher risk of high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity. A sleep problem persisting for a few nights should warrant a visit to your doctor.
