Proper Sleep Helps Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle
Three new different studies emphasise how proper sleep is critical for the health of human beings. They indicate that adults should get 7-8 hours of sleep a night and that treatment is to be sought if a sleep problem is detected.
The first study identified the link between OSA and mortality in Asians. It was found that the risk of OSA was 2.5 times higher and cardiovascular mortality risk was more than 4 times higher in OSA patients.
Another study in Australia found that people with untreated sleep apnoea had a three times higher risk of car accidents than the general population.
Lastly, the relationship between sleep and self-rated health for Korean adults showed sleep of less than 5 hours and more than 9 hours was associated with ill health.
