Poor Sleep Quality Increases Inflammation, Community Study Finds
Researchers have undertaken a study and have found that people who fail to get enough sleep or have poor sleep quality have very high levels of inflammation. High levels of inflammation are a risk factor for stroke and heart disease.

The C-reactive protein was identified and the researchers showed that the protein is a marker of inflammation and heart disease risk. The C-reactive protein is elevated in sleep deprived individuals. They noted that acute sleep deprivation increased production of inflammatory hormones and caused changes in blood vessel functions.
