People with Sleep Apnoea Are 340% More Likely To Die of Cancer, Study Suggests
New research shows that people with sleep apnoea had a 340 percent likelihood of dying of cancer.
Sleep apnoea is thought to deprive body tissues of oxygen which could encourage the growth of tumours. Obstructive sleep apnoea affects about four per cent of middle-aged men in the UK and two per cent of middle-aged women.
Health experts have expressed the need for more research to establish whether the increased risk of cancer in sleep apnoea patients is definitely linked to their sleep disorder.
