Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Severity Linked With Death Risk

Are you aware that sleep apnoea can be deadly? According to a recent study, the risk of death increases with the severity of a person’s obstructive sleep apnoea. According to researchers, sleep apnoea severity is linked with death risk in the Asian population. Overall, the risk of dying was 24.7 times higher among people with severe sleep apnoea compared with people without sleep apnoea. The study has a clinical implication that increased mortality, shown in studies in Western countries, is also associated with increased severity of OSA in Asians, the researchers wrote.
