Obstructive Sleep Apnoea: Risk Factors

Genetics may a play a role in obstructive sleep apnoea since it is more common in African-Americans, Asians, and Hispanics than Caucasians. Other risk factors associated with the development of OSA are being overweight, snoring, smoking, and alcohol consumption. Treatment of OSA is meant to improve sleep quality and decrease the risk of more serious disease.
