Normal-Tension Glaucoma and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Syndrome: A Prospective Study

A number of studies have suggested that obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS) may cause poor optic nerve head perfusion leading to glaucomatous optic neuropathy. This particular study sought to evaluate the link between OSAS and normal-tension glaucoma (NTG). An overnight polysomnograph was undertaken to diagnose OSA and calculate the Apnoea-Hypopnoea Index. It was concluded that prevalence of OSAS was high in NTG patients.
