Noise Is Hurting Our Health in More Ways Than We Realize

wave soundResearchers from the US and across Europe are coming up with findings on the effects of noise on the health of people. Constant noise is not just annoying but it poses a real risk to the health and wellbeing of people.

According to Mathias Basner, M.D., Ph.D., M.Sc., an assistant professor of sleep and chronobiology in psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania, the auditory system is usually awake even in our sleep and will collect noises and events outside. The effects of noise on the health of people go beyond the problems with hearing. Noise has been associated with cognitive performance, heart diseases, and sleep problems.
