New Study Helps Explain Links between Sleep Loss, Diabetes

Getting sufficient sleep is important for the control of the current epidemics of diabetes and obesity. A study has unearthed the mechanism through which the lack of sleep affects the 24 hour blood levels of fatty acids. The lack of sleep elevates the levels of free fatty acids in the blood.
