Motorists Warned About Dangers of Untreated Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Syndrome

Obstructive sleep apnoea affects approximately 5% of the population and the problem is often undiagnosed. Obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome is the most severe form of sleep apnoea and is characterised by excessive sleepiness during the day. Hence, driving is impaired and the DVLA demands that drivers should notify them if they have OSA. Failure to notify the DVLA is a criminal offence.
