Lung Center’s Sleep lab Treats Sleep Apnoea
This article includes some interesting points about increased susceptibility of Asian's to sleep apnoea.
The Lung Center of the Philippines has launched a new sleep laboratory for the diagnosis of abnormal sleep behavior both in children and adults. Obstructive sleep apnoea is the biggest focus since the problem can go undiagnosed over long period of time.
Dr. Virginia de los Reyes, head of the Lung Center of the Philippines Sleep Lab and Sleep Disorders Clinic says the unit will detect all forms of sleep apnoea and inform on the best treatment and management of the identified condition.
Findings indicate that Asians have a narrower skull base and it increases the risk of OSA. Other risk factors are common such as obesity, alcohol and smoking among others. Through the clinic, doctors will diagnose and treat sleep apnoea and all other sleep disorders.
