Lack of sleep is the biggest killer on monotonous roads

If you think that losing sleep cannot harm you, you may be wrong. The recent clinical practice guidelines on sleep apnoea, sleepiness, and driving risk for non-commercial drivers were released by the American Thoracic Society.

The guidelines say that obstructive sleep apnoea may be responsible for up to 20 percent of crashes happening on monotonous roads. Thus experts now aim to provide healthcare practitioners with a framework for the assessment and management of sleepy driving in the evaluation of OSA.
