Key link between epilepsy and obstructive sleep apnoea found by doctors

Obstructive apnoea has many serious medical consequences such as hypertension, diabetes and heart disease. For this reason the condition needs to be diagnosed and treated as soon as possible.

Recently, a study by Australian doctors has found a new link between epilepsy and obstructive sleep apnoea. In this study, patients with epilepsy may have an increased incidence of sleep-disordered breathing, making them at risk of having sleep apnoea.

Thuerefore patients experiencing seizures need to be diagnosed if they show signs of sleep apnoea.
