How Sleep and Hormones Affect Cancer Risk
Sleep is a very important component of human health and well being. The loss of sleep has a direct effect on the immune system and may lead to the increased risk of cancer. Lack of sleep will lead to hormonal imbalance.
Research undertaken at the University of Texas has shown a strong correlation between sleep apnoea and deaths associated with cancer. It was found that approximately 30 percent of patients reporting cancer-related fatigue were diagnosed with sleep apnoea and 60 percent were diagnosed with insomnia. Melatonin and cortisol are two of the most important hormones in preventing cancer.
