How Much Is ‘Too Much’ When It Comes To Sleep?

alarmThe amount of sleep an individual needs is dependent on age, health, activity level, and lifestyle habits. Just as inadequate sleep will lead to fatigue and feeling more tired, too much sleep will have a similar effect. Hitting the snooze more often leads to you waking up unmotivated and feeling lethargic.

Oversleeping also called hypersomnia is a sleep disorder that is characterized by a constant need for sleep and a disrupted sleep cycle. People suffering from hypersomnia experience memory loss, extremely low energy, and anxiety. Oversleeping is associated with problems such as headaches, increased mortality, obesity, back pain, heart disease, diabetes, and depression.
