Effect of Sleep Apnoea and Continuous Positive Airway Pressure on Cardiac Structure and Recurrence of Atrial Fibrillation
Obstructive sleep apnoea has been associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation and a host of other heart problems. A study to identify the effects of OSA on cardiac structure was done with 720 patients who were made to undergo a cardiac magnetic resonance. It was found that OSA patients were likely to be male and will have increased blood pressure and pulmonary artery pressure.
