Don’t Ignore that Sleep Problem
Sleeping disorders are not easily noticed and may not seem to be a very big problem. Untreated sleep disorders will definitely have adverse effects on the health of the individual. Obstructive sleep apnoea patients are more likely to have heart conditions and have a higher risk of death compared to healthy individuals. Researchers at the Chosun University Hospital in Korea found out that patients suffering from severe obstructive sleep apnoea (described as having an apnoea-hypopnoea index (AHI) of 30 or higher) were 2.5 times more likely to die of any other cause than patients with an AHI below 5. Sleep disorders should be treated effectively and especially obstructive sleep apnoea should be treated through CPAP therapy.
