A mandatory reporting system initiated in South Australia demanding that doctors report patients suffering from sleep apnoea to keep roads safe could be counter-productive. It is feared that the risk of losing a driving license will make patients keep away. Sleep apnoea affects one out of four South Australian men. The result of disrupted sleep is that individuals experience involuntary naps during the day.
