Did You Know that Sleep is Vital in Managing Type 2 Diabetes?
Research is showing that sleep is very important in the management of Type 2 diabetes. 35 percent of Americans do not get the recommended amount of sleep and this has had adverse consequences on the health of these individuals. Type 2 diabetes has been linked to obstructive sleep apnoea.
The link between sleep and diabetes was established by assessing the sleep habits and the health of groups of people. Difficulty in falling asleep and staying asleep or sleeping less than five to six hours a night may lead to the development of Type 2 diabetes and are factors identified by Diabetes Care in 2010. People are advised to strive to get restful sleep at all times.
