Diagnosing Obstructive Sleep Apnoea

Obstructive sleep apnoea is diagnosed through a polysomnography which demands an overnight stay at the sleep center. Special electrodes, bands and sensors are attached to the patient’s body to measure body parameters. Some of the tests are electro-encephalography, electromyography, pulse oximetry, electrocardiography, and sound and video recording. The severity of obstructive sleep apnoea is determined by the number and frequency of apnoea and hypopnoea episodes.
