Dentists Treat Sleep Apnoea, Too

dentistDentists are actually trained to diagnose, treat, and manage snoring and sleep apnoea.  The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) is the professional body of dentists that helps patients to manage both obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and snoring through the use of oral appliance therapy.

Oral appliance therapy is an alternative to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). Oral appliance therapy uses a custom fitted mouth guard-like device worn during sleep to treat OSA and snoring. The oral devices help to maintain the airways open and unobstructed. The oral device therapy will effectively improve health and overall quality of life.
