Dangers of Sleep Apnoea in Women

woman sleepingSleep apnoea is a disorder normally associated with men. However, a study has revealed that one woman suffers from sleep apnoea for every two to three men who suffer from sleep apnoea.

The major challenge in women suffering from sleep apnoea is that the disorder can go unnoticed for very long because the symptoms are very subtle. The consequences are that sleep apnoea poses a greater danger to the health of the woman.

Untreated sleep apnoea will cause an increase in the risk for high blood pressure, stroke, heart attacks and diabetes. Studies indicate that people who get poor quality sleep are more prone to certain cancers such as breast cancer.
