Children with autism experience more and intense sleep disturbances than average children. Persistent and ongoing sleep disturbances may have a negative effect on the health of the child. Sleep apnoea is a common disorder that affects children and people across all ages.
A good bedtime routine will help teach a child to calm down, relax, and then get ready to sleep. Children benefit from a set bedtime. Other issues to be addressed are medical issues to eliminate any underlying condition bringing about sleep apnoea and taking care of other environmental factors.
